A Douglas County Public Library card allows you to borrow books and other materials from Douglas County libraries and from other Nevada libraries as well. You can also access many of our research databases with your DCPL library card. However, you do not need a library card to use these materials and resources while in the Library.
HOW TO GET A LIBRARY CARD:
You can apply for a library card at either the Minden or Lake Tahoe branch. At this time we do not provide registration for library cards by mail or e-mail. Cards are free, with a small fee charged for replacement cards.
All persons must complete an application. The following information must be
provided in order to receive a library card:
- Valid mailing address, including permanent address if seasonal resident or visitor.
- Valid physical address, if different than mailing address.
- Government-issued picture ID of the applicant or his/her parent or guardian, with current address.
- If ID does not list current address, the following are acceptable as proof of address: rent/lease agreement or utility bill.
- Home telephone number (or message number) and work telephone number, if possible.
- Birthdate.
LIBRARY PASSWORDS:
A password provides an extra level of security when using your library card to access your account from the library's computers or the Internet.
You will be asked if you want a password when you register for your card. If you do not remember choosing a password, please visit the Library and ask for the form to complete.
ACCESSING YOUR ACCOUNT ONLINE:
With your library card and password, you can check which items you have out and when they are due, renew items, or check for money owed. You can also place holds for library materials that are currently checked out to someone else.
- To access your account:
- Click on the "My Account" link above.
- Enter your barcode (library card) number (with no spaces) and password and click "log on."
